Overgrowth Versus Infection

H-Pylori Resides in 50-60% Of The World's Population

Despite still being relatively unknown to most people, H-Pylori is residing in around 50-60% of the population around the world.  It's most likely still unknown because most carrying HP are asymptomatic, or without symptoms.  But, the bacteria is quickly rising in being identified as those seeking treatment are often unsuccessful in their attempts, or have complications post treatment.

Overgrowth versus infection may most likely contribute to these factors.

Overgrowth

The condition of an overgrowth would occur when a native host (someone whom has had H-Pylori since a very young age with no symptoms) experiences environmental, psychological, physiological, or dietary changes which no longer allow the H-Pylori to remain in check.

Hypochlorhydria (low stomach acid), high sugar & high carb foods and beverages, alcohol, smoking, stress, and vitamin & nutrient deficiency are just some of the possible causes which could allow for an overgrowth.

Infection

Infection occurs when a non-native host becomes exposed to a source tainted with H-Pylori, via the mouth.  This could be food, water, feces, or even through kissing an infected person!  It is also believed that transmission is possible through the exposure to contaminated objects, so be careful when sharing beverages, foods, or anything else that could be a source.
